Your Fashion Your Way

Let's talk all about the world of plus-sized fashion: advice, events, the latest and greatest trends and so much more. Be on the lookout for special posts in our Debunking Fashion Taboos and FATshion Inspiration Interview series. Look and feel fabulous with Your Fashion Your Way.

Continuing our series of interviews with FATshion bloggers and designers, today, I present to you Litha Bacchi.

Litha is a Brazilian webdesigner, from Porto Alegre, a city located in the south of Brazil. It’s the eleventh most populous municipality in the country, and its name can be translated as “Happy Port.”

Litha is the mind behind the wonderful blog Manual Prático da Gordinha (The Chubby Girl’s Practical Guide).

Her website offers great fashion, hair and makeup tips for the plus size gal. It’s very well organized with a lovely and professional layout. Since the blog is written in Portuguese, try using the Google Chrome that has a translation option for many different languages. Litha sports two stores, one that features great beauty goods and another that serves as a second hand webstore.

Her profile reveals a little more about why Litha was driven to create a plus-size fashion blog:

“My name’s Litha Bacchi and I’ve always been fat, since I was born. I’m 21 years old and I have the right to wear nice clothes and to feel beautiful as I am, regardless of my weight. I thought it would be nice to share the plus size fashion solutions I know with another women. I was once the Ugly Duckling at school, but that was over when I found out how to make the most out of my features - and I hope that I can help you do the same.”

So, let’s get to know a little more about the beautiful Litha Bacchi!

1. Why did you decide to create a fashion blog?

I’ve noticed that a lot of fat girls don’t know how to get dressed and that they would give up on the idea of feeling beautiful. I wanted to help them see their own worth and help them not give up on themselves.

2. What were the repercussions of your blog in your own life?

The blog changed my life for the better! I’ve gotten to know great people, and my relationship with readers has helped me change my relationship with myself. I’m proud of making something sucessful, and the blog makes me happier, for sure!

3. What does fashion mean to you?

It’s a way of self expression and external evidence that you love your body and want to take care of yourself!

4. What are the most important aspects when you choose an outfit?

I have to feel confortable with the outfit. Not necessarily “comfy,” but feeling sure that I’m beautiful, that I’m liking what I’m wearing and knowing that it fits well.

5. Where do you find inspiration to create your outfits?

There are a lot of things that I just happen to like, but I’m always looking for fashion references on different blogs and adding my own personal style to the outfits I like. I really like Saks in the City’s blog.

6. What are your favorite plus-size brands?

Monelles, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. There are fashionable and fresh ideas and they’re not as expensive as some plus-size stores usually are.

7. If you could boil your message to the plus-size women of the world down to one memorable idea, what would it be?

Above everything else, love yourselves unconditionally!  It doesn’t matter how much you weigh, you must love YOURSELF as a whole. Nobody is just a number on a scale!

I’m very happy, and proud as well, that a young woman like Litha is already so confident and that she’s sharing with the world her belief that you can, indeed, be beautiful at any size!

I wish I had her confidence when I was in my twenties, it only happened after a lot of hard work when I was approaching my thirties. Fortunately, the good news is that it doesn’t matter your age: it’s never too late to start loving yourself!

I’d like to thank Litha, one of my dearest blogger friends, for the opportunity she offered the More of Me to Love Community to get to know a little more about her work. If you want to get in touch with her, please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
